During the house tour weekends, most of the downtown Beaufort art galleries open their doors until 8:00 in the evening for a Gallery Walk.

The Gullah Festival (843) 525-0628 takes over Beaufort's Waterfront Park in late May with African and African-American crafts, music, storytelling, dancing and boat-building. Another celebration of Gullah life takes place in the fall at Penn Center Heritage Days in early November. Penn Center was established as the permanent home of the first school for former slaves in the country. It grew to become an educational, cultural and community center.
